Fermi Paradox and AI

There are so many planets (several trillion) in the Milky Way, it is possible that there are many planets like ours and that there is life on them, some of which existed millions of years before us in the Milky Way.

Wouldn't the people on this planet have developed a lot and started space travel?

If it will take a few million years to scan the Milky Way, shouldn't our alien friends have been knocking on our door by now? (says Fermi)

There is an explanation that civilization destroys itself at some point (thanks to technological developments, by overpowering itself) before it reaches the level of scanning the interior of a certain galaxy, it has been there for years. To me this idea is stronger now with AI developments.

Maybe AI will become super smart to take over Maybe humans go extinct after getting defeated Maybe being destroyed by what you created is the inevatible 'great filter' that ends that every advanced civilazations.

Maybe we are just at the beginning of the end.
